Welcome to the 2026 South Carolina Region 1 Science Fair!
We are delighted to welcome you to the 16th year of the SC Region 1 Science Fair hosted at Southern
Wesleyan University and hope that your experience today is both rewarding and inspiring.
Your participation represents curiosity, creativity, and countless hours of thoughtful work. Science fairs
are about much more than competition—they are opportunities to ask meaningful questions, test ideas,
and discover how scientific thinking can help us better understand the world around us.
Events like this also highlight the important role that science, technology, engineering, and mathematics
play in our communities. As the demand for skilled STEM professionals continues to grow, the work you
are doing today is part of a larger journey that can lead to exciting educational and career opportunities
in the future.
Students participating in today’s fair have the opportunity to advance to additional competitions and
recognition programs. Our regional fair is affiliated with the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) for high school
students and the ThermoFisher Junior Innovators Challenge (JIC) for middle school students.
This event would not be possible without the dedication of our judges, volunteers, sponsors, and the many educators and families who support
our students throughout the year. We are especially grateful to the Southern Wesleyan University community and our local partners for helping
make this event possible.
Thank you for being part of the SC Region 1 Science Fair. We look forward to celebrating your achievements today and hope to see you again in
the years ahead.
Good luck to all of our participants!
